Fat Boy Kitchen: Comfort Food

You know, with a name like Fat Boy Kitchen, it evokes a certain style of food… I mean, don’t expect anything too healthy here. Instead, they focus on hearty meals that fill your belly like noodle soups and rice combos that you’d find at most HK or Taiwanese cafes.

I decided to try their Singaporean Chicken Laksa Noodle Soup ($11.95). While I wasn’t really expecting much, I was pleasantly surprised at how this laksa turned out. The bowl of soft, white, round rice noodles was topped with bean sprouts, a couple of tofu puffs, fish balls, and a crispy fried chicken cutlet. The soup turned out to have a nice spice level with hints of lemongrass.

On my next visit, I tried their Curry Beef on Rice ($13.95 + $1 for lemon tea). Let me just say that their take-out containers are next level! Each item being separated keeps things so much neater and lets you control how you mix up your food. They give you 3 thin but tender (I have to admit – more tender than I was expecting) beef filets and the curry in this dish goes so well with the plain white rice.

They do offer 10% off if you call your order in so make sure you call them and try them out.
