Manjal South Indian Kitchen: Kothu Parotta

Manjal South Indian Kitchen is a newish restaurant that opened up along Edmonds Street recently that focuses on South Indian cuisine. When I dropped by for lunch on a weekday in early February, the place was practically dead but there’s been a lot of construction going on along Edmonds so that might explain the lack of people.

Pokey Okey (Burnaby): Need to Mix Things Up

Earlier this year, Pokey Okey opened up on Kingsway, near Metrotown so I decided to give them a visit in March. When I first walked inside this small little shop, I immediately noticed the large chalk board wall that’s adorned with messages from previous clients. I also noticed that they don’t have anywhere to sit to eat in here (this was before the whole coronapocalypse shut down dine-in eating). They did have some counter area along the wall where you can stand and eat however.

Dragon Group Seafood Restaurant: Tasty Dim Sum in Richmond

Dragon Group Seafood Restaurant is located on the busy corner of Alderbridge and Garden City Road in Richmond – and I’ve got to say, they have a really confounding parking lot – I kept driving around trying how to find how to get into the parking lot before figuring out I had to enter from the backside (that’s why she said).

Na-Re Korean Kitchen: Modern Korean Cuisine in Burnaby

Earlier this year, I noticed a new Korean restaurant on Edmonds Street in the former haunts of iThai so I dropped by for a visit in early January. The interior is a bit spartan in terms of decor but the servers were friendly and helpful.

Tangent Cafe: Service a bit Lacking

Despite spending my formative years around The Drive, I don’t really make it out here much anymore. During one early January morning, I found myself in the neighbourhood and decided to check out Tangent Cafe, which is located a bit further south down Commercial Dr.

Agra Tandoori Restaurant: Butter Chicken, Vindaloo, and Fish Curry

88 PalPal Noodle House: Black Bean Noodles

Back in early March, I checked out 88 PalPal Noodle House, which is the latest restaurant to take up digs in the corner of Kingsway and Marlborough. I wasn’t entirely sure what kind of food to expect here (aside from being a noodle joint) but it turned out to be a mainly Korean restaurant (the interior looks like they spiffed things up a bit since the last tenant but the overall layout is basically the same).

Sea Fortune Restaurant: Dim Sum in Richmond

Kook Korean BBQ Restaurant: Korean BBQ with Lots of Banchan

Back in early March, before the whole coronapocalypse shut down all of the dine-in eating at restaurants, we dropped by Kook Korean BBQ on East 1st. It wasn’t very surprising that the restaurant was pretty quiet when we visited… but that suited us perfectly.

Bean Banh Mi: Modern Banh Mi Offerings

A couple of years ago, I noticed that a new Banh Mi placed opened up in the former haunts of Tung Hing on Kingsway but it hasn’t been until recently that we were able to try out Bean Banh Mi. I was a bit intrigued by their name because I don’t normally associate beans with banh mis. However, I did quite enjoy watching the episodes of Mr. Bean that they had playing on the overhead tv screen while we waited for our orders to come up.
