Grand Crystal Seafood Restaurant: Dim Sum and Lobster Sticky Rice

One of the things that we’ve missed a lot during the pandemic is going out to enjoy dim sum.. I don’t mean the crowded restaurants or the loud din from the hustle and bustle of the kitchen mixed with the incessant tableside conversations that sounds more like screaming matches instead of civilized discussions. No, it’s mainly about the food.

Dragon Group Seafood Restaurant: Tasty Dim Sum in Richmond

Dragon Group Seafood Restaurant is located on the busy corner of Alderbridge and Garden City Road in Richmond – and I’ve got to say, they have a really confounding parking lot – I kept driving around trying how to find how to get into the parking lot before figuring out I had to enter from the backside (that’s why she said).

Sea Fortune Restaurant: Dim Sum in Richmond

Sea Fortune Restaurant is one of the countless Chinese restaurants located in Richmond. And like most Chinese restaurants, you can rely on these places being open during usual western holidays such as New Year’s Day… which is exactly when we chose to visit this place.

Shun Feng Seafood: Slow but Tasty

There’s about a jillion-and-one places to get dim sum in-and-around Vancouver and we’ve barely scratched the surface. But that’s not for lack of trying! We decided to drop by Parker Place Mall in early November and try out Shun Feng Seafood. First off, is it just me or is Parker Place dead? A lot of the mall tenants seemed to be closed up when we visited but the parking lot was still super busy.

Dong Tai Xiang Shanghai Dim Sum: Pan Fried Pork Buns

Recently, I noticed a place called Dong Tai Xiang Shanghai Dim Sum open up on Cambie Street in Vancouver. Normally, I’m more of a Cantonese-style dim sum goer but there are certain specific Shanghai dim sum dishes that, when done properly, are amazing. One of the more well-known Shanghai dim sum dishes is the pan-fried pork dumplings (alongside the similar steamed pork dumplings) which is famous for the hot and soupy filling that’s found inside the dumplings.

Excellent Dim Sum King: More Like Average Dim Sum

You know, when you put “Excellent” in your name, you better darn well be prepared to back that up. A while ago, a new restaurant called “Excellent Dim Sum King” opened up in the former Golden Eats location on Kingsway in Vancouver. We had high hopes given the name…

Fortune Terrace Chinese Cuisine: Fancy Dim Sum

Fortune Terrace is one of the many Chinese restaurants that you can find in Richmond. The thing that really sticks out in my mind whenever we visit this place is the humongous digital screen which takes up a whole wall. Seriously, I need one of these tvs for my home.

Hong Mao Seafood Restaurant: Loud Din Dim Sum

Hong Mao is a Chinese restaurant located next to the Yaohan Centre on No. 3 Road in Richmond. They have a rather strange interior with an unexpectedly huge waiting area in the front, and 2 different sections of the restaurant that have varying ceiling heights. I imagine the somewhat cavernous section is the reason why this restaurant is so loud. I mean, even for a typical Chinese restaurant, this place seemed loud!

Shanghai Lu: Dim Sum

It’s been a few years since we’ve last been to Shanghai Lu on West Broadway. We were initially interested in heading over to nearby Dynasty Seafood but they were too busy so we came here instead. What I’ve never known before is that they actually have free parking located on the 4th floor of the Holiday Inn garage.

Royal Seafood Restaurant: 2nd Floor Dim Sum

There are lots of different dim sum restaurants across town but we like to try different places – which explains how we wound up at Royal Seafood Restaurant in Richmond. It’s located on the 2nd floor of the Garden City Shopping Centre mini mall located at the corner of Blundell and Garden City Road.

Tin Tin Seafood Harbour: Busy Dim Sum Location in Richmond

Tin Tin Seafood Harbour is a popular dim sum restaurant that we’ve been meaning to try for a long time (but the large early morning crowds have always detracted us in the past). We finally managed to pay them a visit in late June.

Tai Tung Chinese Seafood Restaurant: Baked BBQ Pork Buns for Dim Sum

Tai Tung is a Cantonese-style restaurant located in the Marpole area of Vancouver that we visited in late February. The thing that struck us the most about our visit was how quiet it was for a Saturday morning. Usually, that’s a bad sign since most of the good dim sum places are really busy on the weekends. Perhaps we were just here really early?
