Yan’s Garden Chinese Restaurant: Push Cart Dim Sum in Burnaby

So, Yan’s Garden has been on my list of places to try for a number of years (I suppose it’s partly because I used to watch “Wok with Yan” back in the 80’s). I’ve been hesitant to stop by here in the past mainly because parking always looked difficult here as the parking lot is generally always full.

Golden Paramount Seafood Restaurant: Dim Sum

Golden Paramount Seafood Restaurant (I know, the name sounds just like all of the other Chinese restaurants) recently moved from a small strip mall into a brick building next door. The layout and the building itself is a bit confusing as we had a bit of trouble finding the place after parking in the attached parking structure.

Continental Seafood Restaurant: Push Cart Dim Sum in Richmond

Continental Seafood is quite a large and spacious Chinese restaurant located in Richmond and they are one of the few dim sum restaurants that still use push carts. Apparently, they also have menus that you can order from but we didn’t receive a menu and had to rely on their push cart service.

Chong’s Restaurant: Inexpensive Dim Sum

Walking into Chong’s Restaurant on Kingsway is like taking a step into the past… complete with glass blocks accents at the entrance (this is one 80’s design trend that I hope doesn’t make a comeback).

Yue Restaurant: Dim Sum in Richmond

Weekends are made for dim sum (guess it’s the Chinese equivalent of brunch). We decided to check out Yue Restaurant in mid-August. This well-appointed restaurant is located in a little mini mall in Richmond and has a couple of private rooms in the back.

The Jade Seafood Restaurant: New Digs but Hit-and-Miss Dim Sum

Not too long ago, The Jade Seafood Restaurant re-opened in their new digs on No. 3 Road so we decided to pay them a visit when we had a hankering for some dim sum during the Thanksgiving long weekend.

The Deluxe Chinese Restaurant: Deluxe Dim Sum

The Deluxe Chinese Restaurant lives up to their name. This modern looking restaurant is located in Richmond on the corner of Browngate and No. 3 Road. The ultra tall ceilings, well-appointed interior, and multi-panel large screen tv are the first things that hit you when you enter. Arriving around 10:30am on a Sunday, there were a moderate number of diners here but we managed to secure a table (there was a lineup by the time we left).

Dynasty Seafood Restaurant: Dim Sum

Have you ever noticed that the names of Chinese restaurants all sound the same? Take, for example, “Dynasty Seafood Restaurant”… could this be any more typical of a Chinese restaurant name? In any event, Dynasty (not to be confused with Dinesty) is a popular and well received restaurant located on West Broadway in Vancouver. There is free underground parking, just remember not to pay at the machine (tell them your license plate number and stall number when you go to the restaurant).

Top Cantonese Cuisine Restaurant: Winter Melon Soup

Top Cantonese Cuisine Restaurant is located in a cramped little mini mall on the corner of Kingsway and Earles in Vancouver. When we arrived for dinner on a weekend, we were surprised that it wasn’t overly busy (usually not a good sign for a Chinese restaurant).

King’s Chinese Cuisine: Not Your Fancy Dim Sum Place

Despite never eating at King’s Chinese Cuisine before, our visit was a bit of a throwback for me… mainly because this place really kicks things old school.

Phoenix Garden Chinese Seafood Restaurant: Dim Sum

Phoenix Garden is a long-standing Chinese seafood restaurant located on Nanaimo Street between Broadway and East 8th Avenue. The interior is rather cramped but we managed to squeeze into a cozy table for 2 by the window.

Dragon View Chinese Cuisine: Dim Sum

Dragon View Chinese Cuisine is located on the second floor of Continental Shopping Centre in Richmond and has a pleasant looking interior with interesting chandeliers that, to me, resembled the round leaves of a money tree (lunaria annua). There’s also a large floral mural on one wall made up of tiny metallic and glass tiles.
