This isn’t my first time dining at Burgoo. I mean, a place dedicated to comfort food? Why am I not here more often?

Burgoo (Point Grey): Comfort Food

Burgoo is the place to go to when you’re craving some real comfort food. Pretty much everything on their menu spells out dishes that warm and fill your belly like mac & cheese and chicken pot pie. They don’t just focus on one region of cuisine either… they have Mexican, Thai, French, British, American, etc… as long as it’s comfort food, you’ll find it here. While they have 5 locations around town, this visit was to their Point Grey location on W 10th Ave.

Swiss Bakery – Frissant

If you’re looking for a Cronut™ in Vancouver, you might be out of luck since that croissant-doughnut name is trademarked. Instead, you can head down to Swiss Bakery and pick up a Frissant – a portmanteau of “fritter” and “croissant”. It’s hard to believe that the whole process of making these yummy creations of fried laminated dough takes 3 days – perhaps that’s why these go so fast.

Café Medina – Prepare for a Wait

Ok, so seriously… where do all of these people who snake around the outside of Café Medina come from? I swear, every time I look, there’s always a lineup… just like at Anton’s Pasta Bar.

Pear Tree Restaurant

Pear Tree Restaurant is one of the higher-end restaurants located along the Hastings corridor in North Burnaby. I remember trying to visit this place once but was turned away because we didn’t have reservations and they were fully booked.
