When you’re in peak summer mode, you really don’t need a reason to enjoy some cold and delicious ice cream. Still, it feels a little less guilty when there’s a good excuse… and what could be a better excuse than it being “National Ice Cream Sandwich Day”?

Tangram Creamery: Frozen S’mores

This past August, we came across Tangram Creamery who had a food stall located at the Powell Street Festival. I’ve heard of their shop located on Arbutus Street in the west side of Vancouver but we’re hardly ever in that area so we were fortunate to come across their tent.

While we’ve been trying to avoid travel to the United States lately, we occasionally head south of the border because we can’t find the same diversity of products in Vancouver. On one such trip, we stopped by Edaleen Dairy in Ferndale to grab some ice cream since the weather was so hot.

Soft Peaks (Metrotown): Green Forest Soft Serve Ice Cream

Soft Peaks recently opened a location across from Metrotown carrying their signature organic soft serve ice cream with cool toppings. Their new location is actually quite spacious inside and I was surprised at how quiet it was (I think I was the only one there during my visit and it was a day before the first day of summer).

COWS Whistler (Whistler 2018): Fluff ‘n Udder

Does anyone still remember when COWS had a store on Robson Street in Vancouver? Well, unlike Vancouver which has seen an explosion of ice cream and dessert shops over the last couple of years, Whistler has stayed fairly true to COWS. In fact, during our visit in June, there were actually 2 COW locations along the Village Stroll… pretty much within spitting distance.

Fumi’s Kahuku Shrimp (Hawaii 2018): Butter Garlic Shrimp and Dole Whip

Fumi’s Kahuku Shrimp is another one of the popular garlic shrimp stops along the windward coast of Oahu’s North Shore. It seems to be a popular stop for tour groups and we were lucky to arrive just before a large group of hungry tourists showed up.

Banán Waikiki Beach Shack (Hawaii 2018): Go Bananas!

When I first saw the pictures of banana ice cream served up by a food truck called Banán, I knew that I wanted to try them out. However, with only a short amount of time in paradise, we never found the time to make it out to visit. As luck would have it, Banán has since opened up a location right in the heart of Waikiki, just steps away from the beach.

Rain or Shine (West 4th Ave): Malted Milk Chocolate

We’re smack dab in the middle of summer and it seems like the weather in Vancouver has been more “shine” than “rain” lately. Actually… I wish we did get a bit of rain right about now.

Rocky Point Ice Cream: Root Beer Float and Passion Fruit Pavlova

There’s no doubt that Rocky Point Park is a popular summer destination for residents in Port Moody or the rest of the Tri-Cities. If you’re fortunate enough to find parking in the small lot at the entrance of the park, make sure you stop by Rocky Point Ice Cream.

Dolce Gelato (White Rock): Mango!

After our lunch in White Rock, we stopped by Dolce Gelato for some ice cream because… well… it wouldn’t be a trip to White Rock without strolling down the pier with some ice cream.

Molly Moon’s (Queen Anne): Earl Grey and Melted Chocolate

If you’re in the Seattle area and looking for ice cream, you’re bound to hear about Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream. Since their first ice creamery shop opened in 2008 by founder Molly Moon Neitzel, they have since expanded to 8 shops currently and it was at their Queen Anne location that we found ourselves during our Seattle road trip.
