Memphis Blues Barbeque House (Fairview) – Rib Ends and Deep Fried Oysters

Located in the parking garage of the Richmond Superstore, it’s easy to see how you could miss HK BBQ Master unless you were specifically looking for it. Read the rest of this entry

Hog Shack Cook House – BBQ in Steveston

Just to be clear, I’m not a BBQ aficionado… “Kansas City” style BBQ?  I honestly have no clue.  My level of BBQ knowledge is pretty much summarized by the few months of the year that we fire up the grill in the backyard.  That’s not to say that I don’t know what I like though.  Read the rest of this entry

The Buffet at the River Rock – Memphis BBQ Nights

It’s been a long, long time since we’ve been on vacation and enjoyed a true Vegas-style casino buffet.  The Buffet at the River Rock actually has theme nights and every Thursday is Memphis BBQ Nights for $24.95. Read the rest of this entry

Re-Up BBQ (New West) – Pulled Pork at the Westminster Quay

As I mentioned on my last post on the Paddlewheeler Neighbourhood Pub, we were feeling a little hungry after we left so we decided to grab a bite at the Quay.  The Westminster Quay used to be somewhere we liked to visit because of all of the little shops.  Unfortunately, a lot of shops have closed down over the years… but it seems like there’s some renewal going on at the Quay and maybe things will pick back up. Yu Kee BBQ Kitchen – What’s in a Name?

You know, with a name like “Yu Kee” they better make some pretty tasty food.  When I first saw the name of this place, my immediate thoughts were “yucky?”… seriously?  Okay, I know that’s not how you pronounce the name – but in either case, the food is actually really good.

Yu Kee is located in the Killarney Centre mini mall (the same complex as Columbus Restaurant and Wally’s Burgers) and operates as both a BBQ kitchen (where you can purchase various cuts of BBQ meat like duck, chicken, and pork) and a full-fledged restaurant.

Neighbour’s Restaurant & Pizza House

Years ago, when I used to work on East 41st Ave, the staff would occassionally eat at Neighbour’s Restaurant on Victoria and 49th… I think we even had a branch xmas party there one year and I recall that the food tasted pretty good.  The restaurant is very much like the name implies – friendly, cozy and comforting food. Insadong Korean BBQ and Seafood Restaurant

Insadong is a pretty popular Korean restaurant along the Burnaby/Coquitlam border but it was very quiet when we visited for lunch during the weekday… which suits me just fine because I’ve been getting tired of fighting through all of the masses of people at the mall during xmas shopping.

Georgio’s Cafe & Pizzeria – Filipino BBQ Skewers

There are just so many things that seem wrong with this hole-in-the-wall restaurant that I was almost hesitant to try the food.  But, since I drive by this place 4 times a day, I figured it’s about time I tried it out.  I used to think that Georgio’s was just another pizza joint catering to the nearby high school.  And while they seem to do brisk lunch business with the teenagers looking for $3 poutine, I came for the Filipino style BBQ chicken and pork.

Columbus Restaurant – Everything But The Waitress

On an earlier post for Columbus Restaurant, we had tried their Chef’s Mistake pizza which was chock full of toppings.  This time around, we decided to go for broke and get their Everything But The Waitress pizza. Read the rest of this entry

Koryo Korean Barbeque (Brentwood Mall and Richmond Centre)

If you’re like me, one of the things that you like most about eating at a Korean restaurant is the banchan (all the little side dishes).  Since Koryo is a fast-food version of a Korean restaurant, you can’t expect the banchan to be of the same quality as a full service restaurant but I still think it’s better than the regular fries/onion rings fodder that you get at the other food court outlets.
