Lost in the 50’s Drive-in

If you’ve driven along Edmonds, you’ll probably recall seeing the iconic neon sign that currently points to the Lost in the 50’s Drive-in. But the current drive-in wasn’t always underneath the heritage sign… the 20 ft tall curved arrow used to point to the Tomahawk Drive-in that occupied the spot in 1961. Read the rest of this entry

Burger Burger – Unabashed Hole-in-the-Wall

Burger Burger – no, I didn’t stutter. That’s the name of a hole-in-the-wall burger joint in New West… well, at least a former hole-in-the-wall burger joint since the place closed up recently. Read the rest of this entry

Joey Bellevue (Bellevue) – Ahi Tuna Club

Joey Bellevue wasn’t our original plan for dinner on the first night of our road trip. It’s not that there’s anything wrong with Joey… we’ve always enjoyed the Joey locations back home in Vancouver. But after hearing the long waits at a number of other nearby restaurants, we were just getting hungry and wanted anything to eat. Read the rest of this entry

BurGR by Gordon Ramsay (Las Vegas 2013)

Vegas, baby!  Some of you that have been reading our blog may remember that we were in Vegas last December too.  We weren’t planning on coming back to Vegas so soon but we couldn’t pass on the great price. Read the rest of this entry

Burger Heaven – Burgers to die for (literally)

Many moons ago, while working in the New West area, I recall co-workers routinely talking about Burger Heaven.  Back then, the stories were invariably the same… someone got sick but, for some reason, they kept going back.  Not wanting to get sick myself, I stayed clear of this place for years.  I’m not sure if any of those rumours that I’ve heard were true or not but I decided to see for myself this past September.

Wings Restaurants & Pubs

My first visit to Wings (not to be confused with House of Wings a few blocks away) was on a late December weekday.  The lighting inside this pub is quite bright but the decor is mainly dark tones with black tables & seating, and dark coffered ceilings. Read the rest of this entry

Wendy’s (Kingsway)

I miss the Wendy’s tv commercials with founder Dave Thomas.  I think ever since he passed on, Wendy’s has been going downhill.  They used to have a number of different salad options at a reasonable price but the selection has gotten worse over time (and more expensive)… I know… who goes to a fast food joint for a salad?  Still, sometimes you’re in a rush and you don’t have a salad spinner on you. Earls Kitchen & Bar (North Burnaby)

We drive by it all the time but the Earls on Lougheed Hwy. in Burnaby always skips our mind… partly because it’s a little hidden and tucked in a light commercial park close to a Home Depot. Read the rest of this entry

Carl’s Jr. (Las Vegas – McCarran Airport)

This is our last post on Las Vegas for a while and it’s only fitting that we end this trip at the Carl’s Jr. located at McCarran Airport.   Read the rest of this entry

White Spot (Byrne Road) – Burger Guest Stars and The Spot’s Poutine Bar

I was at another White Spot earlier this month when I saw their new Burger Guest Stars and The Spot’s Poutine Bar menu (take a look at my last review to see their Peanut Butter, Bacon & Jalepeño Bigger Burger). Read the rest of this entry

White Spot (Metrotown) – Peanut Butter, Bacon & Jalapeño Bigger Burger

The White Spot at Metrotown is actually not really at Metrotown per se but rather a few blocks east of the large shopping complex.  It’s not to be confused with the nearby Triple O’s that’s only a few more blocks down the road either. Read the rest of this entry

Fatburger (North Burnaby) – Chili Cheese Fries

I’ve actually eaten at this Burnaby Fatburger location before… ironically enough, while taking a first aid course at the nearby St. Johns Ambulance location.  If there was anything that could cause an instant heart attack it has to be chili cheese fries.
