So Hyang Korean Cuisine: Hae Mool Pa Jun

While the Punjabi Market area of Vancouver is primarily focused on Main Street between 49th and 51st, I’ve always considered the neighbouring area along Fraser Street to be an extension of the Punjabi Market. What you notice, however, is that there are a lot of different ethnic cuisines that are represented along Fraser including Chinese, Japanese, and Korean… such as So Hyang Korean Cuisine.

Dooboo: Soft Tofu Soup

Back in October of 2017, a new sundubu restaurant called DooBoo opened up in the former location of Kenzo Japanese Noodle House on the corner of Kingsway and Griffiths. Sundubu refers to soft tofu which is usually prepared in a stew in Korean cuisine. You can see their cute mascot on their wall, an anthropomorphized piece of tofu sitting in a bowl of simmering soup like it was a hot tub.

Potter’s Garden – Dumplings and Noodles

Morak Korean Fusion Restaurant

Insadong Korean BBQ and Seafood Restaurant

Insadong is a pretty popular Korean restaurant along the Burnaby/Coquitlam border but it was very quiet when we visited for lunch during the weekday… which suits me just fine because I’ve been getting tired of fighting through all of the masses of people at the mall during xmas shopping.
