Sea Fortune Restaurant: Dim Sum in Richmond
Sea Fortune Restaurant is one of the countless Chinese restaurants located in Richmond. And like most Chinese restaurants, you can rely on these places being open during usual western holidays such as New Year’s Day… which is exactly when we chose to visit this place.

Hong Mao Seafood Restaurant: Loud Din Dim Sum
Hong Mao is a Chinese restaurant located next to the Yaohan Centre on No. 3 Road in Richmond. They have a rather strange interior with an unexpectedly huge waiting area in the front, and 2 different sections of the restaurant that have varying ceiling heights. I imagine the somewhat cavernous section is the reason why this restaurant is so loud. I mean, even for a typical Chinese restaurant, this place seemed loud!

Shanghai Lu: Dim Sum
It’s been a few years since we’ve last been to Shanghai Lu on West Broadway. We were initially interested in heading over to nearby Dynasty Seafood but they were too busy so we came here instead. What I’ve never known before is that they actually have free parking located on the 4th floor of the Holiday Inn garage.

Royal Seafood Restaurant: 2nd Floor Dim Sum
There are lots of different dim sum restaurants across town but we like to try different places – which explains how we wound up at Royal Seafood Restaurant in Richmond. It’s located on the 2nd floor of the Garden City Shopping Centre mini mall located at the corner of Blundell and Garden City Road.

Tai Tung Chinese Seafood Restaurant: Baked BBQ Pork Buns for Dim Sum
Tai Tung is a Cantonese-style restaurant located in the Marpole area of Vancouver that we visited in late February. The thing that struck us the most about our visit was how quiet it was for a Saturday morning. Usually, that’s a bad sign since most of the good dim sum places are really busy on the weekends. Perhaps we were just here really early?

Neptune Palace Seafood Restaurant: Fancy Dim Sum
We only recently noticed that the extravagantly large restaurant located on the 2nd floor of the Marine Gateway complex had changed from Ban Dao Peal to Neptune Palace Seafood Restaurant so we decided to pop in for a visit. The interior is expansive and impressive, right down to the blingy columns and the plush carpeting. The nice thing is that you don’t feel squished in like some smaller restaurants.

Joyful Seafood Restaurant: New Chinese Restaurant in Burnaby
Joyful Seafood Restaurant is the name of the latest restaurant to occupy the spot on Kingsway in Burnaby that used to be New Starlet and Po King before that. We visited in early April and the place was already hopping on a Saturday morning (there’s not many dim sum options in Burnaby). The wait was about 30+ minutes and partly due to the fact that the restaurant is a bit smallish. The other reason was probably all of the patrons who tried to cut the line by sitting themselves down whenever they saw a table empty up.

Yan’s Garden Chinese Restaurant: Push Cart Dim Sum in Burnaby
So, Yan’s Garden has been on my list of places to try for a number of years (I suppose it’s partly because I used to watch “Wok with Yan” back in the 80’s). I’ve been hesitant to stop by here in the past mainly because parking always looked difficult here as the parking lot is generally always full.

Yue Restaurant: Dim Sum in Richmond
Weekends are made for dim sum (guess it’s the Chinese equivalent of brunch). We decided to check out Yue Restaurant in mid-August. This well-appointed restaurant is located in a little mini mall in Richmond and has a couple of private rooms in the back.

The Jade Seafood Restaurant: New Digs but Hit-and-Miss Dim Sum
Not too long ago, The Jade Seafood Restaurant re-opened in their new digs on No. 3 Road so we decided to pay them a visit when we had a hankering for some dim sum during the Thanksgiving long weekend.
