Pho Capital: Pho in Coquitlam
After running out of places in the South Burnaby and New Westminster area to eat, I’ve been gradually expanding my range to areas around the Burnaby/Coquitlam border. This area is primarily known for having lots of Korean restaurants but I wasn’t really in the mood for Korean so I stopped by Pho Capital.

Fat Tuna: Some Hits and Misses
We don’t find ourselves out in Coquitlam very much so I’m not really sure how we managed to wind up at Fat Tuna other than the fact that the name sounded interesting. Fat Tuna is located in a mini mall on Brunette and Lougheed Hwy and it’s not something that you would really notice by driving by.

Sushi Itshoni: Don’t Visit for the Sushi
Sushi Itshoni is a bit of a misleading restaurant that’s located in the Hanin Village mini mall on North Road in Coquitlam. I say misleading because, by the name, you’d expect that this place would have sushi.

Sushi Gen Restaurant: Hidden Sushi Place in Burnaby
Sushi Gen is a bit of a hidden sushi restaurant as it’s tucked in a mini mall behind Lougheed Town Centre, right next to the Red Robin. This is actually the same mini mall that Green Leaf Cafe recently opened up in (which is how I found Sushi Gen).

Best Sushi N Kitchen: Korean and Japanese Fare
You know… with a name like Best Sushi ‘N Kitchen, you know that they think pretty highly of themselves. This Korean/Japanese restaurant is located in a busy mini mall in Coquitlam (close to Hanamori Sushi).

Hanamori Sushi: Aburi in Coquitlam
I rarely tread out to the suburbs but I’ve been having difficulty finding new (to me) restaurants around my usual haunts. That’s how I wound up at Hanamori Sushi in Coquitlam. This small sushi restaurant is located in the same mini mall as the Executive Plaza on the north-east corner of North Road and Lougheed Hwy.

Red Robin (Coquitlam): Bottomless Fries and Root Beer Floats
I’ve mentioned previously on a number of posts… there was a time when Red Robin was the place to go if you wanted to find “gourmet” burgers. Now, “gourmet” typically meant anything other than a regular cheeseburger and it was also a few decades before all of the newer burger joints started opening up. Still, Red Robin, services a fairly broad demographic looking for a family-friendly atmosphere at relatively fair prices.

Chada Thai – Average Eats
Chada Thai, not to be confused with Chad Thai in North Burnaby, is located in the Pinetree Village shopping centre in Coquitlam, next door to C-Lovers Fish & Chips.

Cora (Coquitlam) – Breakfast
If you haven’t figured it out by now… I’m a breakfast person. First breakfast, second breakfast, brunch, elevensies, dim sum,… you name it… I’m there. Which is why I’ve always enjoyed dining at Cora.

Ikea Restaurant (Coquitlam)
How do you know when you’ve spent too much time at Ikea? Apparently, we bought out of the inventory from their Richmond location so we had to head out to their Coquitlam location to grab the rest of our wardrobe units. I think that makes 3 Ikea restaurant pit stops within the same week.

Wings Restaurants & Pubs (Burquitlam)
“Bur-what?” you might ask… Burquitlam is a portmanteau (think “Brangelina”) of Burnaby and Coquitlam since North Road divides the two cities. Wings is located right on the corner of North Road and Lougheed Hwy (a very congested intersection). Read the rest of this entry
Denny’s (Coquitlam) – Prime Rib Benny
I tend not to eat at Denny’s unless I really have to. It’s not that the food is necessarily bad… it’s just that I’ve had some bad experiences in the past. As it turns out, I was in Coquitlam early one morning and Denny’s was pretty much all that was open at the time.
