Been having some serious cravings for donairs/shawarmas lately (ever since that time when our fav donair shop was closed when we got there). So, when we found ourselves in the Mt. Pleasant area of Vancouver, we decided to try grabbing some donairs from a place that we’ve never been to before… Mitra Canteen.

Donair & Sub House: Four Napkin Minimum
Back in mid-March, I noticed a newish donair shop along 6th St near the Buranby/New West border. The interior is a bit spartan but people usually don’t go to a donair shop for the atmosphere.

Donair Girl: Donairs on Edmonds
Shaved spit-roasted meat stuffed in a pita… that’s what it all basically comes down to. Whether you call it a donair, doner kabob, gyros, shawarma, etc… they’re all basically the same thing.

Taza Falafel House: Shawarma
Back in 2014, I visited a little hole-in-the-wall burger shop in New Westminster called Burger Burger. The burgers were pretty good but the shop closed up not too long after. Afterwards, I noticed that a middle eastern falafel place took over the location but I just haven’t found the time to visit until just recently.

Quik Bite
It’s been a number of months since Georgio’s Cafe closed on Rumble Street in Burnaby. For a while, I didn’t think anything would reopen in that spot. Well, recently, a new Filipino place opened up called Quik Bite (they have another location in New West).
