Plato Filipino: Tapsilog

While stopping off for some bakery goodies from nearby Bao Bakery, I decided to pick up some lunch from Plato Filipino.

Win Win Chick-N (Steveston): Filipino-Style Macaroni

Win Win Chick-N has been in Steveston for a couple of years now and have become so popular that they opened a location in Vancouver. Their Steveston shop is literally a hole-in-the-wall and we stopped by in late July. I’ve heard that it can get really busy here but we were fortunate that we showed up during a slow time (even then they said our chicken sandwich would take 15 mins).

Hapag Ihaw-Ihaw: Average Filipino Fare

As I’ve mentioned on many occasions in the past, there is a distinct lack of Filipino restaurants in Vancouver. I’m still not entirely sure why.

Epic Grill Silogs: Silogs for Days

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… I’m not sure why there’s so few Filipino restaurants in the Lower Mainland. Besides PinPin, Max’s, Hapag Ihaw-Ihaw, and maybe Quick Bite, I don’t think I’ve been to any other Filipino restaurants.

Quik Bite: Filipino Take-Out

What happens when you plan on going to try a new food establishment and only find out that they’re closed for some reason or another? Well, it happens to me a lot. I was on my way to try out the new Goldilocks location in North Fraserway but was dismayed that they were closed (their door was locked, no sign, nothing…) I tried calling their phone number but no one picked up. I later found out that they were closed for inventory and training (word of advice: put a sign up, put it on your Facebook page, website, etc…). Anyhoo… that’s how I ended up at Quik Bite for lunch… I needed a quick bite.

Quik Bite

It’s been a number of months since Georgio’s Cafe closed on Rumble Street in Burnaby. For a while, I didn’t think anything would reopen in that spot. Well, recently, a new Filipino place opened up called Quik Bite (they have another location in New West).

Pinpin Restaurant – Filipino Cuisine

For some reason, there seems to be a decided lack of Filipino restaurants in Vancouver.  On the other hand, there’s more Japanese restaurants and Starbucks than you can shake a stick at. Read the rest of this entry

Max’s Restaurant – Cuisine of the Philippines

I first noticed a new restaurant along Kingsway a couple of months ago.  At the time, I wasn’t sure what kind of food they served – all I could tell was that it seemed bright and clean and had an inconspicuous name… Max’s Restaurant.  I figured it was either a new burger joint or some kind of fast food outlet. Goldilocks – Filipino Bakery

Goldilocks is a Filipino bakery/cafe that serves both designer cakes (they have a large display of sample cakes – mainly kids themed) as well as Filipino entrees.  We usually only come here for the pastries though.

Georgio’s Cafe & Pizzeria – Filipino BBQ Skewers

There are just so many things that seem wrong with this hole-in-the-wall restaurant that I was almost hesitant to try the food.  But, since I drive by this place 4 times a day, I figured it’s about time I tried it out.  I used to think that Georgio’s was just another pizza joint catering to the nearby high school.  And while they seem to do brisk lunch business with the teenagers looking for $3 poutine, I came for the Filipino style BBQ chicken and pork.
