Khao Thai by Legato Cafe: Unexpected Thai Food in a Coffee Shop
We don’t make it out to Kerrisdale much so, whenever we’re in the neighbourhood, it’s always a chore to figure out where to eat. I noticed that there was a Thai place nearby and made a mental note to try this place out. When I finally got here, I was a bit confused because the place looked like a coffee shop (not a Thai restaurant).

Tropika: Long Standing SE Asian Eats
It has literally been years since the last time we dined at Tropika. Many years ago, this was one of the first Malaysian restaurants that we tried and we fell in love with the spices associated with SE Asian cooking such as Malaysian and Thai cuisine.

Amay’s House: Prata and Fish Cakes
One of the problems with eating out so often is that I’m always interested in trying out new restaurants but there’s just so many different cuisines that you find in Vancouver. Take, for example, Burmese food… I think the last time I had Burmese food was at the short-lived Wahh Tea on Joyce.

Green & Oak Malaysian Restaurant: Lunch Add-Ons
Green & Oak is one of the newer Malaysian restaurants in town and situated just east of Boundary Road on Hastings Street. We arrived in mid-April (right before they were set to temporarily close down for some kitchen renovations) for a late lunch/early dinner and were fortunate that they were still offering their special lunch add-on menu (where you can order smaller versions of their appies).

Pink Elephant Thai (Marpole) – Needs Some Work
Pink Elephant Thai is part of the Thai House group of restaurants that also includes their signature Thai House restaurants as well as Urban Thai Bistro. My impression is that Pink Elephant is going more for the younger crowds who may be more interested in style than anything else. They had recently opened a location in the new Marine Gateway complex, near Dublin Crossing Irish Pub.
