Khao Thai by Legato Cafe: Unexpected Thai Food in a Coffee Shop

We don’t make it out to Kerrisdale much so, whenever we’re in the neighbourhood, it’s always a chore to figure out where to eat. I noticed that there was a Thai place nearby and made a mental note to try this place out. When I finally got here, I was a bit confused because the place looked like a coffee shop (not a Thai restaurant).

Siam Le Bien Thai Cuisine: Stuffed Chicken Wings and Red Curry Duck

Siam Le Bien is a relatively new Thai restaurant that opened up a few months ago in Burnaby Heights. Always on the hunt for new Thai restaurants, we stopped by for some take-out in January (they do have dine-in service available).

Thai Away Home (City Square): Tasty but Basic Green Curry Chicken

The food court at City Square has never been an exciting place to visit… I mean, the whole City Square complex has seen better days and seems to be very underutilized. That being said, we do find ourselves here every now and again and, on one visit in early February, we decided to eat at the their food court.

Talay Thai: Thai Lunch Specials

I’m always on the lookout for Thai restaurants that I’ve never tried before so Talay Thai has been on my radar in case I ever found myself in the South Granville area.

Nahm Thai Bistro: Whalley Thai Food

We don’t wind up out in Surrey very often so I’m usually at a loss of where to go to grab some good grub. On a recent October weekend, we found ourselves out in the Whalley area and decided to try out Nahm Thai Bistro. As is usually the case with us, the Google Maps information told us that it should have been open but their actual opening time was a half hour later (darn you Google!). Since we didn’t know what else was around the neighbourhood, we just decided to wait until they opened.

Twinkle Thai: New Take-Out Thai

Recently, a new take-out restaurant opened on Kingsway called Twinkle Thai (in the former location of First Choice Chinese). This new Thai restaurant is the brain child of the former owners of Sticky Rice Thai & Asian Cuisine in Surrey. While Sticky Rice Thai was a full-scale sit-down restaurant, the owners decided to scale things back and just focus on take-out now.

Thai Chef Casual Cuisine: Lunch Specials in Burnaby

Thai Chef Casual Cuisine is one of the few Thai restaurants along the North Road corridor between Burnaby and Coquitlam. That probably partly explains why this place was so busy when I visited for lunch on a weekday.

Chad Thai: Better the Second Time Around

It’s been a number of years since my last visit to Chad Thai in the Burnaby Heights area… mainly because I wasn’t really thrilled with the food the first time around. However, finding us in the area on a rainy Sunday with a hankering for Thai food convinced me to give them another go.

Ban Chok Dee Thai Cuisine: Langley Thai Food

So we don’t find ourselves out in Langley very often. But after doing some flower shopping at a couple of nurseries in the area, we wound up at Ban Chok Dee Thai Cuisine in mid-June.

Van Thai: Fairly Solid Thai Dishes

Last year, I did a round of all of the Thai restaurants in the New Westminster area and I was pleasantly surprised by some of the shops. Earlier this year, I noticed a newish Thai spot that opened up on Carnarvon St (near the Skytrain station) called Van Thai. The interior is spacious but a bit on the dark side with minimal decor (partly due to the dark wood coloured chairs, tables, and chair railing).

Olay’s Thai Food Express (Hawaii 2018): Honolulu Farmers’ Market

The original purpose of our visit to the Honolulu Farmers’ Market (located in front of Blaisdell Concert Hall) was to get some yummy butter mochi cupcakes from Mochi Lab. However, we knew that we’d be hungry for something more substantial. Fortunately, there’s a ton of food stands here… one of which is Olay’s Thai Food Express.

Sabai Thai: Thai Eats in Guildford

I’m sure there are plenty of good restaurants in Surrey… I just don’t have the need or desire to spend much time in the area. Well, we found ourselves in a 2 hour lineup for a book signing near Guildford one Saturday and decided to get some food in the area afterwards. That’s how we ended up at Sabai Thai.
