Hong Kong No 1 Chinese Restaurant: Hot Pot Combo

Located in a strip mall on Kingsway, Hong Kong No 1 Chinese Restaurant wasn’t in our initial plans for dinner in early August. Instead, we had planned to go to a nearby restaurant but were turned away because they were all booked up. I recall visiting the former occupant of this particular location (Wei Dao Cafe, I believe) a few years ago and not much has been done to the interior decor. Although something that I did notice right away was their use of a whole menagerie of different chairs for their large tables.

Sandy La Chinese Restaurant: Home-Style Cooking

Sandy La is one of the many nondescript Chinese restaurants located in Vancouver… in this particular case, serving the Kensington area around Victoria Drive. The reason why we came to visit this restaurant was because they listed an online special where you order 3 dishes and you get a free order of clams in black bean sauce. Fatty Cow Seafood Hot Pot

There’s nothing like cold weather to drive hordes of people (at least Asians) to hot pot places.  It must be all the steam emanating from the boiling pots that helps to keep us warm.  Well, it was a bitterly cold December night when we decided to visit Fatty Cow Seafood on Victoria Drive and the restaurant filled up quickly.

Posh (Burnaby) – Crab Hot Pot Horrors

Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot (Burnaby) – Good Food, Service… Not So Much.

When I saw the signs for the new Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot go up in the former Sammy J Peppers location across from Metrotown, I was quite anxious to try it out… but it seemed to take forever until it opened.  We finally managed to visit the place in early December (after waiting a month or two to allow them to work out any grand opening kinks).
