Ever since we visited Japan and had the most amazing Japanese curry at CoCo Ichibanyan, I’ve been dying to find a really good Japanese curry place in Vancouver.

Riz has been on my list for a long time… I mean, a really long time. Known specifically for their poke bowls, I had actually wanted to try some of their other menu items such as udon or katsu curry but, for some reason, they only had poke bowls available when I visited.

I remember having curry on occasion while I was growing up… however, back then, Chinese curry just didn’t do it for me. You know what I’m talking about – that relatively bland yellow curry with the large potato chunks and little if anything else. If you thought that Japanese curry is anything like Chinese curry, you’re in for a big surprise.
