Sushi Taku: Solid Take-Out Options

The corner of Joyce and Wellington (near the Joyce Skytrain Station) seems to be the Bermuda triangle for restaurants… I’ve seen numerous restaurants come and go in this one spot. It’s a shame because I’ve liked most of the past restaurants.

Satomi Sushi – Better Option than Sushi Garden

Satomi Sushi is a relatively new/updated restaurant located on Kingsway, across from Metropolis at Metrotown. It’s on the same block as Sushi Garden but, for my money, it’s a better alternative.

Isami Sushi – Hidden Gem

Isami Sushi is a hidden gem in Burnaby. With an address on Kingsway, you wouldn’t be faulted for not noticing it… especially since the storefront is actually located on McKay Street.

Hon Sushi – Forgettable Sushi

The restaurant located on the second floor above Earls on Kingsway has changed a number of times over the years. In recent times, it’s been the location of Fish on Rice, an AYCE Japanese restaurant. Van-Ya Japanese Restaurant

Van-Ya is one of those non-descript Japanese restaurants that you could pass by without even realizing it. Actually, I’m pretty sure that I’ve passed by this restaurant many times without batting an eye. Since it’s located on a side street off of Kingsway, that’s not too surprising.

I’ve mentioned it before, but there are tons of tiny little sushi joints all over the Lower Mainland. Sushi Yen on Sixth St in New West is one such tiny place.
