I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before but I really like mac ‘n cheese. The problem with comfort food like mac ‘n cheese is that everyone’s idea of the perfect mac ‘n cheese is a little different and unless you share the same childhood memories associated with it, you might be disappointed by other people’s interpretation of the dish.

Contrary to it’s name, the Secret Garden Tea Company is hardly a secret at all… in fact, it’s one of the more popular places for High Tea (or Afternoon Tea if you want to get technical). We made reservations for noon – and, as usual with our luck, they had some trouble finding our reservations. Contrary to it’s name, Faubourg isn’t located in the suburbs… it’s located in heart of Kerrisdale and only a hop, skip, and a jump away from Golden Ocean Seafood Restaurant. Business was bustling here on the weekend (and we were a little full from our dim sum at Golden Ocean Seafood) so we decided to grab a few items to go… their take-out boxes look gorgeous. There’s not a lot of dim sum restaurants in Kerrisdale (let alone push cart style dim sum places). Fortunately, Golden Ocean Seafood is a really good one. Unlike the dim sum at Flamingo House, all of the dim sum at Golden Ocean is consistently good.
Located on the 2nd floor of W 41st in bustling Kerrisdale, you would never know that there were throngs of loud Chinese people clamoring to get a table unless you looked up. We got there fairly early around 10:30am and didn’t have trouble finding a table but that’s probably because the place opens early (at 8am I think).
