Romer’s Burger Bar: What’s in a Name?
While we’ve been to Romer’s Burger many times in the past, it’s been quite a while since we last visited. Their location in SE Vancouver has been around for quite some time but now, with all of the development on the Fraser Flats, getting here and finding parking can be a headache.

Heaven Sent Fried Chicken (Everett): Ezell’s Famous Chicken
If you’ve ever head of Ezell’s Famous Chicken (and you probably have if you watch Oprah because she once stated it was her favourite fried chicken), then you’ll know that it’s a popular chain in the Seattle area. As it turns out Ezell had a falling out with the company that he co-founded and has since changed the name of his remaining locations to Heaven Sent Fried Chicken. Wow… talk about drama!

Brodeur’s Bistro – Southern Comfort Foods
As a 70’s child that grew up in the 80’s in Vancouver, I have lasting memories of the 1982 Stanley Cup run with “King” Richard Brodeur between the pipes (I even have his autograph tucked away somewhere). We came across Brodeur’s Bistro in Abbotsford back in July and you can forgive my expectation that this establishment was somehow connected to Richard Brodeur. In fact, there is no connection at all (they came up with the name as an easily recognizable French surname).

Le Bistro Montage (Portland Road Trip 2016)
Our 6 hour drive down from Vancouver, BC to Portland turned into a 9 hour trip due to a major accident on the I5 as well as numerous traffic snarl-ups. Since we wanted to get some shopping done, we decided to stop off for some dinner first. We were originally going to try Screen Door but it was so busy that we wound up at Le Bistro Montage instead.

Red Robin (Robson) – Wild Pacific Crab Cake Burger
There was a time, many moons ago, when Red Robin dominated the casual burger establishment in Vancouver… mainly because there was no competition. Since then, many of the Red Robin franchises in the Lower Mainland have shut down while newer, fresher, restaurants have taken their place.
