Pokérrito (Marine Way): Poké in Burnaby
Recently, Pokérrito opened up a new location in the Marine Way area of Burnaby. While it’s true that most poke places in the Vancouver area have very little resemblances with the poke places in Hawaii, it’s probably unfair to compare the two. In Hawaii, the best poke spots focus mainly on the freshness of the seafood and the various marinades that they use to accompany them. At most, you’d enjoy the poke in Hawaii with some plain rice to really savour the flavours. In Hawaii, you’d rarely find all of various toppings that accompany “poke bowls” in Vancouver.

Little Minh’s (Formerly Most Valuable Pho): Vietnamese Food in Burnaby
In early April, we noticed that a new Vietnamese restaurant called M.V.P had opened up recently in the Market Crossing complex on Marine Drive in Burnaby. I was a bit confused by the name at first until I learned that it stood for Most Valuable Pho. As things turned out, they had to change their name at the request of their landlord (because there are other competing tenants that also serve pho)… hence their new name… “Little Minh’s”.

Gold Train II Express: Unabashed Viet Food but Iffy Service
Gold Train II Express is one of the no-nonsense eateries located in the Market Crossing area of Burnaby serving up hearty Vietnamese cuisine. As typical with many Vietnamese eateries, everything is very utilitarian here… meant to get people in and out as quickly as possible.

I’ve seen the signs every time I go shopping at Market Crossing… “Not So Butter Chicken” available at HealthFare Restaurant. I love me some butter chicken but not so butter chicken? I was curious but never curious enough to try them out until just recently.

Papa Greek (Burnaby)
When we saw that Papa Greek had finally opened up a location in the Market Crossing area of Burnaby, we were quite pleased as there was a definite lack of Greek cuisine in the area.
