Ishtar Donair: New West Shawarma Joint

Ishtar Donair is a relatively newish restaurant that opened up in the former Taza Falafel House location on 6th Street in New Westminster. They serve up the same type of food so there’s not much of a change to the interior… expect to find mainly donairs and shawarmas here.

Grub on Main: Amazing Grub

Grub is a small eatery on Main Street that’s been open since 2007. It’s funny because I’ve often driven or walked past this area of Main Street and have never even noticed this restaurant. Run by Chef/Owner Ling, there’s a surprising well-rounded selection of options on the menu with 95% of their produce supplied by their farm in Langley.

Donair Spot (Robson Street) – Lebanese Chicken Wrap

After our visit to Poké Time on Robson, we noticed Donair Spot just down the block and decided to grab some food to go.

The Main – Prototypical Hipster Joint

If you’re looking for your prototypical hipster joint, you only have to hit up The Main – appropriately located on Main Street.

Pita King (Brentwood)

Everytime I watch the end of The Avengers, I get a hankering for Shawarma.  Seeing as we were out at Brentwood, we decided on satisfying our craving by grabbing some food at Pita King in the food court. 

Paradise Donair

I was originally planning on trying out Ole Ole Mexican Deli for lunch one weekday in April but was disappointed when they weren’t open.  Fortunately, I knew that Paradise Donair was located pretty nearby so I decided to give them a try.

Solav Souvlaki – Reopened then Reclosed

We were disappointed when our favourite donair place closed down when they tore down Station Square.  As it turns out, they’ve just recently reopened in the beginning of April near the Joyce Skytrain station on the corner of Joyce and Wellington.

Great Wraps (Las Vegas – Fashion Show Mall)

The Fashion Show Mall located on The Strip can be either a daunting shopping experience or a shopper’s delight.  It’s slightly larger than Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby in terms of square footage but doesn’t have as many shops. 

House of Taste – Shawarmas in City Square

I used to always avoid the food court in City Square – it always seemed to be a little lacking.  However, on one of our latest trips out to City Square, we were getting a bit hungry and didn’t feel like going to Kirin so we decided to check out the food court and noticed a relatively new outlet serving up Shawarmas.
