Kushi Mura Izakaya: Solid Japanese Snacking Options

Recently, Kushi Mura Izakaya opened up on the main floor of the Shops at New West (ie. New West Skytrain Station) at the western end closest to Quayside drive. Before you head over here, just keep in mind that parking rates here are high so you might be better off to find parking outside of the station.

Araka (Kitahama): Osaka 2017

On our last visit to Japan, we tried self-grilled okonomiyaki at Toradyu in Tokyo. While very good, we realized that we’re actually too lazy to make okonomiyaki by ourselves. Since we were in Osaka on this visit, we knew we wanted to try okonomiyaki (which is a speciality here) but we wanted to find somewhere where they would prepare it for us.

Tokugawa (Hawaii 2017): Okonomiyaki

During our trip to Japan last year, we tried many classic Japanese dishes including okonomiyaki (a popular grilled pancake filled with savory ingredients). While we enjoyed our meal at Toradyu Okonomiyaki, we had to make the okonomiyaki ourselves (which is quite a bit of work). So when we saw that we could get okonomiyaki made for us at the Shirokiya Japan Village Walk, we jumped at the opportunity.

Toradyu Okonomiyaki Restaurant (Tokyo 2016): Grill It Yourself

One of the types of food that we were looking forward to trying while we visited Japan this year was okonomiyaki. These Japanese-style savory pancakes are grilled up with various ingredients and kind of resembles an omelette or pizza.
