Amaranthus: Vegetarian at the Quay

Recently, a new plant-focused restaurant opened up in the River Market area at the New West Quay, taking over the former location of Freebird Chicken. Helmed by the team that opened up El Santo in New West, this restaurant strives to provide vegetable-based cuisine that’s more than just your ordinary salad.

Angelina’s Dutch Corner: Good Food and Slow Service

It’s been a number of years since my last visit to Angelina’s Dutch Corner but they’ve recently moved into a new location at the River Market at the Quay. I’ve got to admit that I like their new digs… much more open, airy, and bright compared to their last location. The only bad thing here is that the noise inside the restaurant seems to echo and amplify making for a loud din.

Longtail Kitchen: Lunch Specials

For those of you who haven’t been to the River Market in New West (formerly known as New West Quay), you might be surprised at the quality of restaurants located in this place. In addition to Freebird Chicken Shack, Chef Angus An has a Thai restaurant at River Market that specializes in Thai street food.

Freebird Chicken Shack – Hainanese Chicken

Back in December, I visited Freebird Chicken Shack which is the latest offering from Chef Angus An’s family of restaurants. While I’ve never been to Fat Mao Noodles before, I am a fan of both Maenam and Longtail Kitchen, so I had high hopes for Freebird.

Crepe Des Amis – Creperie in River Market

Crepe Des Amis is a little creperie located in the New West Quay (or River Market as they like to be called now).

Pamola Bakery & Deli – Tacos and Lemon Bar

Tacos at a bakery? I must have walked by this bakery a number of times and never noticed that they also serve hot Mexican food too. I guess I can’t be blamed too much… this shop in the Quay has a large display of pastries that you would find in most regular bakeries. However, if you look towards the back of the bakery, you’ll see a large menu where you can also order tacos, tortas, burritos, and other Mexican dishes.

Longtail Kitchen – Street Food

After my first visit to Longtail Kitchen in the Quay, I’ve been looking for an excuse to come back to try the rest of their menu.  Truth be told, they don’t have an extensive menu… but what they do have is all made quite well.
