Red Robin (Robson) – Wild Pacific Crab Cake Burger
There was a time, many moons ago, when Red Robin dominated the casual burger establishment in Vancouver… mainly because there was no competition. Since then, many of the Red Robin franchises in the Lower Mainland have shut down while newer, fresher, restaurants have taken their place.

The Keg Steakhouse + Bar (Alberni St) – Rib Steak, Chicago-Style
The Keg recently opened up a new location last year in the Shangri-La Hotel on Alberni. This 2nd floor location is rather interesting as the restaurant and lounge are split into two sides with separate patios (the lounge patio has a view of Alberni and the restaurant has a view of West Georgia).

Acacia Fillo Bar – Bulgarian Banitza
Acacia Fillo Bar is a tiny little Bulgarian café located on Denman Street that serves up Banitzas and Bureks. Both of these are very similar to each other (I’ve had bureks before at Bernie’s Balkan Kitchen which recently moved) but the banitzas are generally eaten for breakfast in Balkan countries.

Sylvia’s Restaurant & Lounge – Historic Eats in English Bay
Anyone who has spent any time around Beach Avenue in the English Bay area has probably spotted the Sylvia Hotel. This heritage building was originally an apartment (the tallest building in the West End until 1958) but was later converted to a hotel.

Xi Shi Lounge – Afternoon Tea
Xi Shi Lounge is located in the the Shangri-La Hotel, the current tallest building in Vancouver. We stopped by for afternoon tea one Saturday morning and came to realize that this location wasn’t very busy. In fact, when we first arrived, there wasn’t any staff to greet us and we had to wait quite a while before someone returned.
