Tropika: Long Standing SE Asian Eats

Kushi Mura Izakaya: Solid Japanese Snacking Options

Recently, Kushi Mura Izakaya opened up on the main floor of the Shops at New West (ie. New West Skytrain Station) at the western end closest to Quayside drive. Before you head over here, just keep in mind that parking rates here are high so you might be better off to find parking outside of the station.

Happy Tree House BBQ: Lively or Just Loud?

As I’ve mentioned on my previous post on Happy Tree House BBQ, this is a very busy spot where you can enjoy your bbq skewers in a super loud environment. It’s a combination of the tvs that they have blaring and the open nature of their floor plan which seems to encourage patrons to yell at the top of their lungs just so that the others at the table can hear over the din.

Happy Tree House BBQ (Vancouver): Skewers!

Happy Tree House BBQ recently opened up a location in Vancouver (they have another location in Richmond). Known for their BBQ skewers and whole fish dishes, they now occupy the site of the former Star Anise and Samosa Garden in a small mini mall on Kingsway known for their incredulous parking.

Carp Dori (Hawaii 2017): Yakitori

Thanks to the food stalls in the Shirokiya Japan Village Walk, we were able to relive many of our favourite food memories from our trip to Japan. One of our favourites was when we visited the tiny yakitori restaurants in Tokyo. After our okonomiyaki from Tokugawa, we decided to try a few skewers from Carp Dori, also located in the Japan Village Walk.
