Elisa Steakhouse: Seafood Plateau
Earlier in the year, I started to notice a bunch of posts for a new steakhouse in Yaletown called Elisa. Brought to you by Toptable Group (the same company responsible for Blue Water, Araxi, and West), I made sure to bookmark it for a future visit.

Joe Fortes: Seafood Tower
Joe Fortes is practically an institution in Vancouver… and what’s not to love about this downtown eatery? Well, I suppose the one thing that I dislike is how busy they are. That’s probably one of the reasons why we haven’t returned for many years.

Hy’s Steakhouse: Old School Steak House
While The Keg has opened up steakhouses to the mass public in Canada with almost a Earls/Cactus Club-like feel, when you think of old school steakhouses… you’re probably thinking about Hy’s. Filled with old world charm, dark mahogany wood, waiters in monogrammed uniforms, etc… this is the quintessential steakhouse that has over 60 years of history in Canada.

Kobeya Yakiniku (Kuromon Ichiba Market): Osaka 2017
The Kuromon Ichiba Market in Osaka is not just a place where you can find tasty seafood… they also have a good selection of fresh Kobe beef and Wagyu beef. What’s the difference you may ask? Well, all Kobe beef is Wagyu but not all Wagyu beef is Kobe. In other words, Wagyu beef refers to Japanese cattle while Kobe beef is a particular strain of Wagyu beef that’s raised in the Hyogo prefecture (Kobe is the capital of Hyogo).

Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar (Hawaii 2017): Happy Hour
Sansei Seafood Restaurant and DK Steakhouse have been two of our favourite spots to dine in Waikiki since we first found them a few years ago. And although we were aiming to try a bunch of new restaurants, the pull of delicious food from Sansei Seafood couldn’t keep us away.

d.k. Steak House (Hawaii 2016) – Boneless Beef Short Ribs
Two of our favourite restaurants in Waikiki are Sansei Seafood Restaurant and their sister restaurant, d.k. Steak House… both located on the third floor of the Waikiki Beach Marriott. We had initially planned on visiting Sansei for their happy hour but it was so busy that we wound up going next door to d.k. Steak House.

The Keg (Dunsmuir) – Kansas City Strip
We had a bit of communication problem when we were supposed to meet some friends for dinner in November. We thought they meant the Keg on Alberni… as it turned out… they meant the Keg on Dunsmuir. So, after a brisk and chilly walk, we finally made it to the corner of Dunsmuir and Granville and were whisked upstairs.

d.k. Steak House (Waikiki 2015) – Dry-Aged Goodness
Back in August, we visited Waikiki and had the best meal at d.k. Steak House. For some reason, I must have forgotten to write up this blog entry… which is a shame because it was the best steak that I’ve ever had.
