Pepper Lunch Canada – DIY Teppanyaki

The great thing about Instagram is that you get to see all the great food people are trying in your area. The bad thing is that you start getting a serious case of FOMO because you’re not eating the same thing right now.

The Keg Steakhouse + Bar (Alberni St) – Rib Steak, Chicago-Style

The Keg recently opened up a new location last year in the Shangri-La Hotel on Alberni. This 2nd floor location is rather interesting as the restaurant and lounge are split into two sides with separate patios (the lounge patio has a view of Alberni and the restaurant has a view of West Georgia).

Duke’s Waikiki – Hawaii 2013

Duke’s Waikiki is named after one of the most famous Hawaiian citizens, Duke Paoa Kahinu Mokoe Hulikohola Kahanamoku, who first brought surfing and Hawaii to prominence.  Located in the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach, this restaurant is very popular and we had a half hour wait to get in at 8:30pm. Keg Steakhouse & Bar (Still Creek) – Filet Mignon and Prime Rib with Snow Crab

We’ve been to the Keg at Still Creek a number of times and have tried most of their different steak options… like the Kansas City Strip and the Flat Iron Steak.  On this last visit in November, we tried a couple of different choices. Read the rest of this entry

Keg Steakhouse and Bar (New West) – Mushroom Madness

My choice for dinner is usually the same when I hit the Keg.  Over the years, I’ve tried many of their other items… from the prime rib to the sirloins and the chicken dishes.  But I always find myself coming back to the rib steak.  Read the rest of this entry

Boathouse (New West) – Deep Fried Oysters and Steamed Mussels

We went out to dinner recently at the Boathouse in New Westminster to celebrate a couple of birthdays.  I find that when we go to the Boathouse in New West, it’s usually pretty empty – I’m not sure if it’s because of the particular day that we go.  In either case, it’s fine by me because I prefer quieter restaurants. Keg Steakhouse and Bar (Still Creek) – Kansas City Strip

The last time we were at this Keg, I had a great Flat Iron Steak with Truffle Mac and Cheese but, as it turns out, they changed their menus recently and neither of these items were to be found when we dropped by recently. Read the rest of this entry

The Keg Steakhouse (Yaletown) – Dine Out 2012

It might seem a bit strange to pick The Keg for a Dine Out night… usually, you would think that this is the perfect chance to try out restaurants that you’ve never been to before instead of going to a chain restaurant but the price point for The Keg’s Dine Out offering was too good to pass up – $28 for appy, entrée, and dessert.

Keg Steakhouse and Bar (Burnaby) – Flat Iron Goodness

I’m a creature of habit… each time I go to the Keg I always seem to order the boneless beef rib steak – preferably Chicago-style, cooked medium-rare (check out our last visit here).  It’s not that I haven’t tried all of the other cuts and dishes… I just really like how juicy and tender the rib steak is.  Anyhoo, when I saw a different item on their menu the last time we stopped by, I figured I’d give it a shot. The Keg Steakhouse & Bar – Burnaby

While you can get steak at most western restaurants nowadays, sometimes it pays to go to a steakhouse when you’re craving a well-made steak.  The Keg is a very family-friendly steakhouse and one of it’s main drawbacks is due to it’s popularity… It can get quite loud during peak times with all the families, dinner parties, and dining going on.  If you’re looking for a quiet place to enjoy your steak, this is not the place for you.
