The great thing about Instagram is that you get to see all the great food people are trying in your area. The bad thing is that you start getting a serious case of FOMO because you’re not eating the same thing right now.

The Keg recently opened up a new location last year in the Shangri-La Hotel on Alberni. This 2nd floor location is rather interesting as the restaurant and lounge are split into two sides with separate patios (the lounge patio has a view of Alberni and the restaurant has a view of West Georgia).

Duke’s Waikiki is named after one of the most famous Hawaiian citizens, Duke Paoa Kahinu Mokoe Hulikohola Kahanamoku, who first brought surfing and Hawaii to prominence. Located in the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach, this restaurant is very popular and we had a half hour wait to get in at 8:30pm. Read the rest of this entry

We went out to dinner recently at the Boathouse in New Westminster to celebrate a couple of birthdays. I find that when we go to the Boathouse in New West, it’s usually pretty empty – I’m not sure if it’s because of the particular day that we go. It might seem a bit strange to pick The Keg for a Dine Out night… usually, you would think that this is the perfect chance to try out restaurants that you’ve never been to before instead of going to a chain restaurant but the price point for The Keg’s Dine Out offering was too good to pass up – $28 for appy, entrée, and dessert.
I’m a creature of habit… each time I go to the Keg I always seem to order the boneless beef rib steak – preferably Chicago-style, cooked medium-rare (check out our last visit here). It’s not that I haven’t tried all of the other cuts and dishes… I just really like how juicy and tender the rib steak is. While you can get steak at most western restaurants nowadays, sometimes it pays to go to a steakhouse when you’re craving a well-made steak. The Keg is a very family-friendly steakhouse and one of it’s main drawbacks is due to it’s popularity… It can get quite loud during peak times with all the families, dinner parties, and dining going on.
