Marusho Yakisoba Hongo: Tokyo 2017

On our trip to Japan in 2016, we made the mistake of not having enough yakisoba dishes. This time around, we made sure we had some yakisoba in Osaka and Tokyo. After spending most of the day visiting museums around the Ueno area, we decided to grab some eats at Marusho Yakisoba Hongo as I heard that they specialize in yakisoba.

Araka (Kitahama): Osaka 2017

On our last visit to Japan, we tried self-grilled okonomiyaki at Toradyu in Tokyo. While very good, we realized that we’re actually too lazy to make okonomiyaki by ourselves. Since we were in Osaka on this visit, we knew we wanted to try okonomiyaki (which is a speciality here) but we wanted to find somewhere where they would prepare it for us.

Yokozuna Tsutenkaku Shop: Osaka 2017

On our first full day in Osaka in November, we decided to mainly stick with touristy spots. So after our visit to Osaka Castle, we headed to Tsutenkaku Tower and the surrounding Shinsekai district of Naniwa-ku. Shinsekai is known for their kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers of meat and veggies) so we figured Yokozuna Tsutenkaku Shop would be a good place to grab a light lunch.

Tomoya Japanese Restaurant

Tomoya Japanese Restaurant is located at Kingsway and Nelson next to Lao Shan Dong (and no, I’m not a big fan of Lao Shan Dong).  It’s a fairly small restaurant but has an interesting interior with bold red and dark brown colours throughout. Read the rest of this entry
