Le Petit Belge: Amazing Salmon Benny on Waffles
I don’t make it downtown very often so, when I had the chance in mid-February, I popped by Le Petit Belge for an early morning breakfast. True to their name, this location is kind of small and I was glad that I went early as it quickly filled up in the morning. As you enter, you’ll come to the counter where you place and pay for your order before sitting down.
I opted for the Salmon Benny on Waffle ($17) and spruced it up with a Side of Bacon ($5) and Hot Chocolate ($5). Let me tell you, if you like bacon, make sure you order some. You actually get like 6/7 slices of perfectly crispy bacon so you can share this with your partner (or just eat it all yourself like I did – no judgement).
You can order your salmon benny on a bagel or on waffles but trust me – get it on the waffles! Seriously, this is a game changer! The waffle has a nice, light crisp to it and the eggs are perfectly cooked with a runny yolk that coats everything from the smashed potatoes to the slices of sockeye salmon and the creamy avocado. I literally devoured this (and the crispy bacon just kicked it up a notch).
I’m probably gushing a bit but it’s been a long while since I’ve had a breakfast this good.
