Jules Cafe – Traditional Breakfast
It’s been about 4 years since we first visited Jules Cafe in South Burnaby. Since that time, the prices have gone up a bit. I recall being able to order the Traditional Breakfast for under $5. I suppose with our Canadian dollar the way it is right now, it’s difficult for places to keep up with the price of food.
Still, at $6.75, the Traditional Breakfast is still good value for what you get.
Two large eggs cooked to you liking, hash browns, sausage, and your choice of toast… I generally always opt for rye toast if given the choice.
The food’s not bad… especially since there is currently a very limited selection of breakfast options in this area.

i have eaten there twice…..nice clean diner run by friendly enuff people. Hopefully their prices didnt go up too much as the burger combos are a decent value and tasty . Seeing it is a wet and pissy day out, i think i head over with my feedbag!
I recently re-acquainted myself with Kyle’s Cafe on Commercial Drive @ 10th Ave. Solid breakfasts offerings. The standard all-day brekkie ($6.50 IIRC) came with 4 full links of sausages (choice of bacon, ham or sausages), two eggs, hash potatoes and toast. It’s a popular spot among the locals it seems, and their Chinese food is very decent too.
Speaking of Chinese food, another discovery (this is brand new for me) of solid food in a hole-in-wall spot is Chu Kiang on Knight/49th. Down-to-earth, lots-of-wok-hey foods at yesterday’s prices. Zero ambiance whatsoever, but owner lady is v. nice and polite, treats you well. I really liked their S&S pork on rice for again, only $6.50 (add $1 in the evenings).
