Goofy Cafe & Dine (Hawaii 2017): French Toast and Hawaiian Omelette

I’m always looking for new breakfast spots in Honolulu and one place that has been on my list for a couple of years has been Goofy Cafe & Dine on Ala Moana Blvd. Whenever we pass by this place, it always seems busy so that must be a good thing.

So instead of heading back to Eggs ‘n Things this year, we stopped by Goofy Cafe before we went exploring downtown Honolulu. This small little restaurant is located on the second floor, on top of some retail shops. While this gives diners a bit of a view, you pretty much only see passing traffic and the busy Ala Moana roadway is fairly loud.

The inside of this diner is very cramped so you’re practically squeezed next to other diners and it can be a bit dark depending where you sit (they wouldn’t let me lift up the window blind for some reason). In any case, we started our meal with a Plantation Tea Soda ($6) and a fresh Papaya Juice Smoothie ($6.50).

Their breakfast menu is fairly limited so I opted for the Hawaiian Big Island French Toast with pineapple, papaya and banana ($13). The french toast was pretty good and you can’t really beat fresh fruit in Hawaii.

The Classic Hawaiian Omelette ($12) was served with Portuguese sausage, three eggs, and a taro muffin.

Served in a cast iron skillet, I felt like the eggs were more scrambled than prepared like an omelette.

Overall, the food was fairly good but I don’t think I’d return.
